![]() ![]() First, let me say that this is preposterous. There have been a few outlandish claims made, with some even going so far as to suggest that a 'Beasts' deck could be a factor in the metagame. With the Extended Pro Tour coming up in a few weeks, there has been a surge of popularity online for Extended, as well as the obligatory discussion articles on various strategy sites. So, enough with the introductions, on to the interesting stuff! However, now that Magic Online has grown into its own unique community and environment, there are sites such as PureMTGO, which are dedicated to Magic Online specifically, and I feel much more comfortable writing in that context than for a site focused on paper Magic content. Also, the gap between the live release of a set and the release of its online counterpart was proving awkward since my readership was expecting me to have input on a new set before I had time to properly expose myself to the set in an in-game environment. In fact, the transition from paper Magic to Magic Online is a large part of the reason I stopped writing…at the time, Magic Online was in its early stages, and few people were taking it very seriously. Granted, all this stuff happened years ago, since I’ve all but totally quit paper Magic in favor of Magic Online, with the exception of the random sealed deck PTQ or two that I attend in the course of a given year. I’ve been to over a dozen Pro Tours, cashing in five of them, and I also have placed in the top four of a Team Grand Prix. My name is Mike Krzywicki, and I used to write for Wizards of the Coast in the days, as well as for Star City and a few others. ![]() Excuse me for a moment while I dust off the mental cobwebs, it has been awhile since the last time I wrote something other than an email. ![]()
